Using VR to teach kids fire safety
The Chicago Fire Department was teaching The 10 Steps to Fire Safety curriculum to middle-schoolers using colouring books, but wanted to modernise the approach in order to increase student interest and knowledge retention. Our solution was a first-of-its-kind virtual reality experience, fully built in CGI – from set design, animation, and sound design to fire simulation.
The Fire Escape provides students with a powerfully realistic experience that will drive learning and recall for a generation of students to come. This unique collaboration provided many of the Chicago’s students—nearly 90% of whom live in poverty—with their first VR experience. The program is currently being expanded to additional cities.
